Designing a catalog worthy of a mission-minded brand with a global impact.


PROJECT OVERVIEW

Since its founding in 2006, TOMS Shoes has been at the forefront of brands combining retail with a humanitarian mission. Their edict is simple: for each pair of shoes sold, they’ll give a pair of shoes to a child in need. The visual language for the brand is earnest, hopeful, and highlights the relationship forged between the loyal consumers and the people their purchases affect. When it came time for JMS to design the TOMS spring catalog, we wanted to leverage that powerful spirit and sense of hope, and channel it into each page through an image-led, transportive experience. We focused on building an asset library of photos from a TOMS giving trip in Cambodia—which several JMS team members attended–then developed a narrative around that trip. The resulting effect was that of a travel journal, a celebratory, collage-like document that captured ephemeral moments and personal stories, while still showcasing the TOMS product in an engaging way.

The RealReal

Creating a celebratory campaign for the leader in luxury resale.


PROJECT OVERVIEW

The RealReal was founded in 2011 with the aim of helping luxury fashion lovers buy and sell their fine goods in an open, trustworthy online forum. The brand quickly took off, garnering interest and loyalty across the fashion industry and beyond. To build on their momentum and maintain their stake in the growing space, The RealReal reached out to JMS when it came time to launch a new campaign. Latching onto the verve, passion, and sheer love consumers hold for scoring a sought-after piece of clothing, jewelry, or fine art, JMS developed a campaign that captured and celebrated that very moment. Hands reaching energetically into the air holding shoes, handbags, necklaces, and more visually represented the volume of luxury products ‘in reach’ on The RealReal site. The campaign launched with an outdoor blitz at New York Fashion Week, followed up by geo-targeted digital ads. The entire initiative, from conception, studio production to digital delivery, was completed in studio.
